Don’t you love when old trends make a reappearance?!?
I remember about 10 years ago, right after I graduated college, looking into my closet and realizing that I had cute casual clothes, appropriate work clothes, and fancy church or special occasion pieces. But because I had never been the girl who was a “bar fly” or who spent my weekends shutting down the bar, I felt like I didn’t have (cue: cringeworthy phrase) “going out tops.” UGH, you know exactly what I mean, don’t you gals?! I didn’t own tops that required a strapless bra, or were made out of some sort of nylon, stretchy glittery fabric, or things that would never see the light of day.
Going to the mall, I remember seeing one shouldered tops and thinking how different they were. Since they covered one whole arm, they didn’t feel inappropriate, or slutty, or like they were wavering from my personal style. I scooped a couple up and figured out ways that I could wear them to brunch casually, or I could dress them up to go out on the town in the evening.
But like every trend, they became too trendy and make their exit from the retailers. Fast forward a decade, and my enthusiasm is bursting seeing this look emerge again. In total, I think I’ve scooped up about 5 already…
…and with every purchase, I am reminded that fashion has a funny way of repeating itself….and now I am old enough to discuss it!
