It’s been noted before that I don’t hand out compliments like candy.
Growing up, my mom always reminded me the “value” of a compliment, whether it is being given or received. That those small words can simply change the course of someone’s day. With that said, I have dedicatedly ensured that my compliments are sincere and from the heart.
Last week, I spotted this pretty little peasant top on a girl at the mall….it was a blouse so perfect that it LITERALLY took my breath away. I rushed right up to her and said, “OH MY GOD, I HAVE TO TELL YOU HOW PERFECT THIS BLOUSE IS! It’s so beautiful that I bet it’s vintage, isn’t it?!” Anticipating her to tell me that she scooped it up at some exclusive vintage shop and that I could NEVER own it for myself, she leaned in and said thank you….then following it up with, “You’ll never believe me when I tell you I actually found it the other day at Express for, like, 60 bucks!” After picking my jaw up off the floor, I immediately hurried to Express to get one for myself.
Moral of the story: Paying a compliment could actually reward you with discovering your new favorite blouse 😉
